August 2 is celebrated as Cinema Day of Azerbaijan in Azerbaijan. According to the decree signed by the national leader Heydar Aliyev on December 18, 2000, August 2 was declared the professional holiday of cinema workers - Cinema Day of Azerbaijan.
Cinema is a means of documenting life events. Cinematography accurately reflects and preserves the truths of life. The role of creative people with progressive thinking and outstanding artists is great in the formation of Azerbaijani cinema.
As the years pass, generations replace each other. The older generation passed on their professional knowledge to the younger generation and created beautiful, successful, popular screen works that enriched our national cinema history.
On the occasion of Azerbaijan Cinema Day, a virtual exhibition called "August 2 - Cinema Day of Azerbaijan" was prepared by the staff of the National Library of Azerbaijan named after M.F. Akhundov. In the virtual exhibition, documents reflecting the history of Azerbaijani cinema, opinions of prominent people about our cinema history, photos, books and articles reflecting the history of Azerbaijani cinema are displayed.
