On the occasion of the 110^th anniversary of the birth of the National poet Samed Vurgun, jubilee events were held at the residence of TURKSOY, in Ankara, by the organization of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Azerbaijan Republic, TURKSOY organization, Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Turkey, the National Library of Turkey, and Azerbaijan National Library, on November 15. Book and photo exhibition, book presentation, international scientific conference, and artistic part of poems of the poet were held within the framework of the anniversary events.

Firstly, the participants of the event closely reviewed the exhibition of books about life and work of Samed Vurgun stored in the golden fund of Azerbaijan National Library and photo exhibition stored in Samed Vurgun House Museum.

Then presentation ceremony of the book “Samed Vurgun. Bibliography” published by Azerbaijan National Library was held.

The international scientific conference began its work with a film telling the story of the prominent poet’s life.

Opening the conference, Secretary General of TURKSOY Dusen KAseinov greeted the participants of the event, and wished successes. First Deputy Minister of Culture and Toruism of Azerbaijan Republic Vagif Aliyev spoke about the events held together with TURKSOY, and thanked everyone who contributed to the event.

Head of Ataturk Center in Azerbaijan, Member of Parliament, professor Nizami Jafarov, director of Azerbaijan National Library professor Karim Tahirov, the lecturer of Contemporary Turkish Dialects and Literature Department of Gazi University Assistant professor, Dr. Aysun Demirez Guneri, the lecturer of Karabuk University Literature faculty Associate professor Dr. Yildiz Ismayilova, secretary of Azerbaijan Writers’ Union Rashad Majid, Chairman of Eurasia Writers’ Union Yagub Omaroglu, director of Samed Vurgun House Museum Nushaba Babayeva-Vekilova spoke in detail about life and work of the writer at the international scientific conference.

At the conference honored artist of Azerbaijan Mehriban Zeki performed the poems of the poet.

The event was attended by the representatives from the Gagauz library, the National Libraries of Kazakhstan, Bashkortostan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, National Academic Library of Kazakhstan, and from the State Library of Northern Cyprus.
