A meeting of ILESAM member Turkish writers and poets with readers was held in the Open library operating under the Azerbaijan National Library, on May 6, at 14.00.
Opening the event director of the National Library professor Karim Tahirov welcomed the guests and the participants of the event. In his speech he spoke about the Open Library which is not yet completed a year of activity and about the events held there. He also spoke about art and poetry gaining popularity, reminded the Agreement on mutual cooperation signed last month between the Azerbaijan National Library and ILESAM organization, and mentioned that that event was the first step of that cooperation.
Secretary of ILESAM organization Mehmet Nuri Parmaksiz said that till the end of that year 15 000 copies of books consisting of works of Turkish writers and poets would be brought to Baku and allocated to the libraries of 16 regions. At the end of his speech he performed his “If I die now” poem.
In his speech Khayal Rza – Azerbaijani representative of ILESAM, Head of Azerbaijani Writers’ Union Press Service spoke about the events held together with ILESAM, and performed his “I can’t open the door”.
ILESAM member poet Durak Turan Duz performed his “We are Turks” poem and Arzu Tabukchu performed her “Love” poem.
In his speech Rashad Majid – Secretary of Azerbaijan Writers’ Union, editor-in-chief of the 525th newspaper said that the Open Library is a venue for such beautiful events, and performed his “You will not come once again” poem.
Head of Department at the Azerbaijan National Library, member of the Writers’ Union Sayyara Mammadli performed her poem named “My world is Turkic world”
