The international conference of CIS librarians called "Union of libraries: partnership and innovation" took place in the city of Samarkand, Uzbekistan within the framework of the interstate program "Samarkand - the cultural capital of the CIS - 2024".
At the conference, the judge of Samarkand region Erkinjon Turdimov, the first deputy minister of culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan Bahadir Ahmadov, the director of the Information and Mass Communication Agency under the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Uzbekistan Asadjan Khojayev, the adviser of the CIS countries Interstate Humanitarian Cooperation Fund Kamol Rahimov, the general director of the Russian State Library, Eurasia Vadim Duda, president of the Library Assembly, made a speech.
Heads and specialists of the libraries of the CIS countries at the international conference: Director of the National Library of Belarus Vadim Gigin, Director of the National Library of Kazakhstan Bakitjamal Ospanova, Deputy Director of Scientific Affairs and Library-Information Service of the National Library of Azerbaijan, Doctor of Philosophy in History Adiba Ismayilova, Director of the Russian State Children's Library of Science and Olga Mezenseva, deputy director for educational affairs, Nuriyana Baisakova, deputy director for scientific affairs of the Alikul Osmonov National Library of Kyrgyzstan, Maria Ermakova, director of the Department of Specialized Departments of the Russian State Library, general director of the Eurasian Library Assembly, deputy director of the Department - head of the International Department of the Russian State Library, Irina Gaishun , Director of Samarkand Regional Library-Information Center Zebinisa Shodieva and others made a report.
Adiba Ismayilova, Ph.D. in history, deputy director for scientific affairs and library-information service, representing the National Library of Azerbaijan at the international conference, gave a report and presentation on the topic "Advantages of using artificial intelligence in the field of library-information".
The deputy director spoke about the application of artificial intelligence technologies to various fields of human activity and emphasized that the scientific-theoretical and practical problems of these technologies are widely studied in the world's leading scientific centers.
He noted that the application of artificial intelligence to the library-information field opens up opportunities for the development of new services in this field. The application of artificial intelligence in the library and information field has many advantages that help improve library processes and provide more efficient information services to users. The application of artificial intelligence to the library and information field allows improving the search capabilities of bibliographic databases, first of all, the electronic catalog. The use of artificial intelligence is used to index and catalog materials, process user requests, analyze data, and more. This allows libraries to save time and resources, improve the efficiency of processes and to automate many daily tasks.
The deputy director stated that the development of artificial intelligence in the library-information field is expected in the future, and pointed out that this will make it more effective and accessible to users.
The deputy director also held a scientific-practical seminar on "Information culture of the digital generation: new directions for the implementation of the project of media and information literacy formation of children and youth in Uzbekistan libraries" held at the Samarkand Regional Library and Information Center (in the framework of cooperation between the National Library of Uzbekistan and the Moscow State Institute of Culture). She also participated in the seminar and the special meeting of directors of Central Asian cross-border libraries (via video link of representatives of the State Library of Russia) within the framework of the Eurasian Library Assembly on "Cross-border cooperation of libraries: new perspectives of international interaction".
