The V International conference of the directors of national libraries of Turkic-speaking countries is held within the framework of the international “The reading nation in the reading world” symposium in Astana. The aim of the conference organized by the National Library of Kazakhstan is to promote the Turkic culture, to develop cooperation between the national libraries of Turkic-speaking countries on a historical basis, information exchange, and to realize the modern projects.
Issues on increasing bases of libraries of Turkic-speaking countries were discussed during the conference. The moderator of the event, director of the Azerbaijan National Library named after M.F.Akhundzadeh prof. Karim Tahirov made a speech on “Azerbaijan National Library today”.
Presentation ceremony of the academician Nizami Jafarov’s “Molla Panah Vagif” book was held within the framework of the conference. Karim Tahirov noted that TURKSOY announced 2017 as the year of “Molla Panah Vagif”. In his speech TURKSOY Secretary General prof. Dusen Kaseinov mentioned that works on translating Molla Panah Vagif’s works into several languages were carried out.
The author Nizami Jafarov mentioned that he wrote about the life and work of Molla Panah Vagif and his viewpoint. Director of ANAS National Museum of Azerbaijan History, academician Naila Valikhanli made a speech on “The influence of historical museums on formation of growing generation in socio-cultural environment” in the conference.
In the end, the statutes of the V International Conference of Directors of National Libraries of Turkic-speaking countries had been signed. Director of the Azerbaijan National Library named after M.F.Akhundzadeh prof. Karim Tahirov was presented with the gratitude diploma by the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Kazakhstan.
