Today, the 80th anniversary of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, the highest scientific organization of our republic, which ensures the organization, management, development and scientific-innovation activities in the Republic of Azerbaijan, is being celebrated.

The Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, which organizes and ensures the development of science in the Republic of Azerbaijan, implements the state's scientific and scientific-technical policy, coordinates and supports the scientific research activities of scientific institutions and organizations, higher education institutions across the country, and represents the Republic of Azerbaijan in the field of scientific-technical activities abroad, has passed a great, rich and honorable path of development during its 80-year history.

In order to develop science in the country, strengthen scientific-technical potential, prepare highly qualified scientific personnel, and increase the prestige of scientific workers in society, the Azerbaijan Academy of Sciences was granted the status of "National Academy of Sciences" by the Decree of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev dated May 15, 2001.

This historic decree once again confirms the achievements of fundamental science in Azerbaijan, the role of science in the socio-economic, cultural and spiritual formation of Azerbaijan, its influence in the country's socio-political life, and the fact that academic science is a guarantor of the progress of the sovereign Azerbaijani state.

A new stage in the development of Azerbaijani science has begun with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev “On some measures to improve management in the field of science and education in the Republic of Azerbaijan” dated July 28, 2022. The new Charter of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences was approved by the Decree dated November 3, 2023.

The Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences continues its work in shaping the intellectual potential of the Azerbaijani people, determining the strategic directions of science arising from modern requirements, developing fundamental and applied, innovative fields of science, and training a generation of professional scientific personnel in the republic.

The National Library presented to users a book exhibition titled “Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences - 80” on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, a state higher scientific organization that participates in ensuring the development of science in our republic and implementing state policy in the field of science.

The exhibition features books about the establishment, history, stages of development of science and achievements of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, literature about the lives and activities of scientists who have devoted their lives to scientific creativity and have made invaluable contributions to the establishment and development of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, scientific research of employees, publications of individual institutes, scientific works, scientific journals, bibliographies published by the National Library about prominent scientists, etc. in Azerbaijani and foreign languages.

The exhibition will last for a week.
